Dear Chris
I do think you should dismount from your high horse and hire a humble
donkey to travel the rough and rocky road of the music business. I'm
sure your music is in many homes, just as I'm sure you are not getting
the royalties you would have got had you not sold your composing soul
to the devil in the form of the Scripps Organization, as others have
done with the Saban Organization. I remember from a conversation we
had, you stated that most of the shows you wrote for have a very short
shelf life. I think of that every time I watch the many re-runs Scripps
are programming.
Now you are freelance and making even more money you must realize what
could have been yours - especially from over seas. I wish you luck with
your Library Music Company. From what I have read of your plans, your
principles are excellent and bode well for the composers you will be
embracing. It will be good thing for the business and fellow composers
if you stand by those principles in the competitive days ahead.
Composers don't need to read individual resumes. Composers need to
stand together to ensure they have enough money coming in to purchase
the latest model Zimmer frame when that time arrives.
Very best wishes. Vic

Let's get this straight once and for all, Les. I am fully aware of my
situation and what happened and even why. I could have accepted that
job
and not said anything to anyone because it's MY BUSINESS. I chose not
to
accept it for my reasons.
I shared it here to help others decide what to do on their own. Not to
whine or complain. Not to "bleat" because I was "unstuck." I make a
great
living, Les. I left a great paying job to make even more money as a
freelance composer, and I'm doing just fine. My music is in over well
over
160 Million homes worldwide. I can even afford to turn down work.
Nobody
here is "unstuck."
Let's try to remember something, Les. We are supposed to be on the same
side. You and I BOTH should be trying to find ways to ENCOURAGE each
other
and other composers to make decisions that help themselves and others.
Remember, encouragement.
Thanks!
Chris
