[Fmpro] ACE Title Search (ASCAP) (Les Hurdle)

Thanks for the info Les... I am wondering if I should be listed as a
performer, having performed but not written the music in this case.
We'll really I should have been considered a co-writer but I figure
it's to late for that.

Marc Black cd signing party hosted by The Golden Notebook @ Joshua's
Cafe upstairs. Come by, have a glass of wine and Marc will sing a
few songs from this fabulous cd.

BOSTON GLOBE
This CD is not just a collection of songs. It's an album...and I
love it. Black, supported by Steve Gadd, Art Garfunkel, John
Sebastian , and Steely Dan's music director, Warren Bernhardt,
captures the life-altering experience Mountain's secret journey,
walking the foggy coastline between life and death.

METRO WEST
.Songs like "Our Way Back" and "Let 'im Go" toe the line between the
American songbook and full-on gospel. "Are You Ready" dives into
"Smile"-era Brian Wilson, "You Were The Reason" recalls Steely Dan's
sophisticated blue-eyed soul and the abrasive "Rewired" sounds like a
lost Frank Zappa/Tom Waits electro/noise experiment, all carried by
Black's Carl Wilson-like tenor.

and later on.......

Marc Black and Michael Esposito will perform a intimate concert also
upstairs at Joshua's Cafe. 9:30. Seating is limited so please
reserve by emailing: blackmkt1 at aol.com or call (914) 232 5548.

Joshua's Cafe, 51 Tinker St, Woodstock, NY

Yeah! Scott Bradley was the cat (pardon the pun.) It's pretty
obvious he was a big Gershwin fan but I'm with you, a lot of that
stuff is under-appreciated.

Greetings all,

Can anyone comment on experience joining ASCAP as a writer?
Specifically, how can I deal with titles that appear in the search
that I was a performer on, and yet I am not credited as a performer.
Would a correction to this entry meet the requirement for membership
as requested on the writer application?

Best,
Tim

Marc,

In the document from ASCAP entitled "Information ASCAP needs for
performances of COMMERCIALS, STATION PROMOTIONS/ID'S and PUBLIC SERVICE
ANNOUNCEMENTS" they pretty much indicate that you're on your own for the
drafting of such a letter:

"While it is ASCAP's policy not to give individual members advice with
respect to the drafting of the agreements, ASCAP is prepared to review
them before they are executed in order to assist the parties in drafting
the appropriate language."

So I'm just looking for some simple wording that has been accepted in
the past.

Thanks.
Steve

I'm not listed as THE performer on any of my compositions........ as
ever I think it is a 'song' issue.

I'm happy to announce I have been paid for the usage of a work in a
Theme Park.

Of-course the statement does not tell me which one, time of day,
production etc.. but hey....... I get to buy a Big Mac and I'm
grateful.

A Big Mac! Wow, most of my usages barely get me on the
dollar menu.

Although, I did get four of those network primetime
bonuses. That was nice.
