Subject: [Fmpro] RIGHTS
Given most composers do not own the copyright of their work[s].
Does a composer have a 'right' to data attached to the work?
Given the PRO of your choice only represents the 'copyright'
owner...... how does a PRO represent 'you'?
This was also discussed months ago on this list without I believe a
conclusion.
I ask these questions because investigations in the UK into
non-featured performers rights have highlighted the fact musicians with
a 'performers right' do not have any right to data since it belongs to
the right[s] holder. e.g the record co.
This could be fun to watch as Sound Exchange etc kicks in in the USA
and folks start to wonder where their money is !
