I, like most probably, are assuming they won't. Exactly why I forward this
stuff along. I know it gets old to see, "here's another example of where
payment will never trickle down to composers and songwriters", but, here's
another example of where payment will never trickle down to composers and
songwriters.
Ok, so technically it goes to:
Warner Music Group, EMI Group, The Orchard, ASCAP,
> BMI,
> and TVT Records.
But what exactly are the deals they're cutting covering? I know that that's
rhetorical as far as this group is really concerned, because we're either
not privy to what the organizations are doing (in the case of PROs), or it
doesn't involve us (in the case of individual publishers and labels). But
as independent publishers and/or labels, how on earth do we get involved in
the process? Or should we rely on our PROs to be cutting the deals for us
(I think I've been on the list long enough to know the answer to that).
Here's another question: as all of these deals are being cut all over the
place, how will we ever catch up? If we're not included now, who will
backtrack for us and get us both current AND back payments?
