Hey Doug,
I was wondering how members can currently keep tabs on their
candidate's voting record. In traditional politics, a candidate says
what they believe their constituency wants to hear in order to get
elected, but with ASCAP there's no way to find out how they are
holding up their end of the bargain.
For that matter, a board member can say he voted one way or another
and there's no proof for or against that. I'm not trying to point a
finger at board members and say that they are less than honorable in
their stated commitments, but in the lack of clarity in the
fundamental operations of the organization, there certainly is room
for those who wish to abuse this.
Given this, how can one hold their candidate accountable if there is
no accounting of what their candidate is doing?
I'm hard pressed to think of any good reason to withhold the
attendance records and meeting minutes from the general membership.
Can you shed a bit of light on this?
Tracey
