The rationale for markets is that they allow for greater innovation and inure to the benefit of the CONSUMER. Planned economies have not been able to compete with market economies anywhere. That's why China strategically opened their economy to market activity; now they have perhaps the fastest growing economy in the world.
All people, in creative industries or not, are subject to the "wisdom" of markets in a free society. The collective process, which is inherently socialist, is like an alternative government seeking to regulate a piece of the market. To the people on this list the problems with this are well known or this conversayion wouldn't be taking place.
Collective bargaining is too often behind closed doors and without transparency. In the USA we have the Freedom of Information Act. Transparency and accountability may require jumping through hoops but it is there. Not so with these unions and PROs.
They preach solidarity. For socialists the state is supposed to replace God so they hate God and preach about their own gods. It's a fraud. There is no solidarity, only frustration, confusion, fear, ambition, greed, narcissism etc.
Fortunately we have the freedom to make individual decisions and hope for the best. The truth can be a bitter pill but ultimately can't be ignored if we sincerely care about progress. My 2 cents more.
