That definitely holds true, even in light of my blunder in the original post, 
stating that drumrolls were credited as B/V on a cuesheet -- I meant B/I.

Another area where I feel like ASCAP "cheats" is with shows that air in local 
markets via first-run syndication.   A good example of this is Oprah:   it 
airs nationwide, but because it airs at different times in different markets, it 
doesn't count as national television -- it counts as a "local market."   So 
my ASCAP statement will show :30 of an instrumental cue on Oprah, and it'll 
show 43 local markets airing that episode that day, and I'll make all of $1.21 in 
performance money (writer's share).

I don't know if BMI is any better with things like this -- I'm guessing that 
it's 6 of one/half-dozen of the other -- but as an instrumental composer, it's 
really really frustrating.
