I've seen so much talk about this over the past few weeks, and this is main
issue for me, as well. Bottom line!

I know a lot of people in the indie music world feel threatened by the
potential loss of internet radio as an outlet, and many are willing to
completely opt-out of receiving any payment at all to keep that from
happening. That is NOT the outcome that any PRO should want, let alone what
that does to devalue the rest of us who just want to be paid fairly for
usage and plays!

Members of PROs who don't feel like they'll either receive payments or
they'll be enough to "matter", won't fight, argue, or stand up.

A fair weighting and dispersement system that a PRO can willingly and openly
release the details of to its members would solve all of these problems and
confusion, no?

This conversation, from another mailing list I'm on, is getting more and
more common, and will affect us all. I didn't bother replying to the thread
myself, as I don't know how I can possibly convince anyone differently if
they're saying "I don't care". But how to keep that attitude from
spreading?

Person B: > Just out of curiousity, how do you collect royalties from your
TV
> licensing opportunities ?

Person A: >I don't. Most of the deals I've done are things like training
videos,
>podcast theme music, short films, etc. -- projects that aren't going to
>see widespread distribution or broadcast. I might be entitled to some
>performance money -- but I don't care. I can foresee a time when I'll
>rejoin the PRO system, but right >now it's just complicating things.
