The statement "A team of composers, personally approved by and occasionally
including Pete Townshend, will regularly listen to Method Music portraits
and select a few for further
development/elaboration," sounds a lot like copyright infringement (if this
can be considered a piece of work to begin with). From Digital Music News
this morning:

>>Pete Townshend Unveils Dynamic Composition Software

The Who guitarist Pete Townshend is now spinning a novel composition
concept, one that generates creative licks automatically. The
internet-based solution generates a unique creation using the inputs of a
voice snippet, image, and a clapped rhythm. The "Method" software was
designed in conjunction with mathematician and composer Lawrence Ball, as
well as software developer Dave Snowdon. According to the group, the
software interaction process is like sitting for a portrait. "The Method is
software that creates music, allowing you to 'sit' for a musical portrait
just as if you were being painted," the website, at lifehouse-method.com
explains. "The software 'paints' your music." Townshend noted that Method
could be used by anyone, though he may build upon some of the productions to
create more sophisticated works. "A team of composers, personally approved
by and occasionally including Pete Townshend, will regularly listen to
Method Music portraits and select a few for further
development/elaboration," the project site says. Townshend is encouraging
users to share the copyrights of their works for continued collaboration.
