Sorry Pete.. you are not quite correct.
I was on a 'broadcasters' email list many year ago where they
thoroughly trounced an ASCAP Publisher Board member.

'they don't give a damn what is on air between POINTS OF INCOME'....
the commercial.
That being said, one must attract an audience.
During AACO days songwriters thought CPA should not be paid by ASCAP/
BMI since the writers appeared to be paid vast amounts 'upfront' .
I pointed out songwriters get advances etc, huge amounts when song is
used for CPA.. and in may cases, Library sic is paid squat fr CPA.
THE SONGWRITERS AGREED......... CPA HAD THE SAME VALUE.
