What's more, writers cannot be members of Harry Fox, only publishers... Yet
another pair of "hands" for the money to go through (and "admin costs" to be
deducted from) before the money actually reaches the person who wrote the
music!
If you think about it, it's amazing the number of "hands" that have a very
big interest in touching and taking money due the people who actually write
the music that earns the money. I'm reminded of this each and every time the
ASCAP board refuses to disclose their attendance records, agenda for
meetings, decisions made and not made, etc. I can only imagine one reason
why they have such an intense interest in keeping their activities secret
from the membership, and that reason has nothing to do with "competition
from BMI", etc...
Without transparency, there is no accountability.
Best,
