I get a few of those $8 payments, but the average cue falls in the $30-45
range for me, and I've had the occasional $300/cue payment for stuff like home
video trailers, things like that. A cue that gets on Oprah will yield $45 per
cue. So I make a couple thousand $$ a year through Pump, and then that
generates a lot of ASCAP revenue. For an agreement like their blanket with MTVN, I
won't make much -- I'm guessing about $10 per cue (still waiting for that
statement to come) BUT when your stuff ends up in shows like Room Raiders, Super
Sweet 16, Laguna Beach, and so on, you end up seeing a ton of performance income
out of it because MTV plays those shows to death. So sure, I get bummed
when I see an $8 cue... but when it lands in a show that's going to get a lot
of runs, I don't mind so much because 9 months later I'll see it on an ASCAP
statement.

One thing I'm a little nervous about, honestly, is what's going to happen
with Pump now that Getty has bought them. I'm worried that music will now go
the way of the microstock photo sites, and that would be baaaaaaaad news. But
the Pump folks say that nothing's going to change, other than that their
client list is going to expand exponentially. Time will tell!

Kerry
