Todd,

     There is a standard panning arrangement for live orchestras, and  
concerts.  The layout of a live orchestra is too lengthy to go into  
here.  and scanning a page for you would violate copyright laws I'm  
sure.

     What you could do, is find a picture of a live orchestra that  
exists on line, and use that to place your instruments. Left, Right,  
Center. I have done this, but for smaller chambers.  I'm sure the  
technique could be used in any case.
