Great point, Les. I wonder if even one penny of all the fines paid by people
sued by the RIAA has ever gone beyond the pockets of the RIAA's legal staff
and member companies - that is, to the artists - the people who actually
CREATE the music.
It very interesting how high and mighty companies like ASCAP and the RIAA
get about COLLECTING money from music users. No license fee, no usage of
music, and hell to pay if you defy them. But when it comes to DISTRIBUTING
that same money, they're more than happy to withhold millions for secret
bonuses and such, refuse to pay for huge numbers of proven music
performances, and somehow that's OK.
It's hypocracy at it's worst, and it's costing composers dearly.
