Dear Santa:
Here is my wish list for 2008 and aside for the bottle of
Jonny Walker I slammed on the wall after I opened
my last ASCAP statement, I have been a real good boy.
My wishes for 2008:
That all composers get their balls out of the closet
and start speaking out and fighting against discrimination
and the complete lack of integrity and respect towards
their music. Fight the power, educate directors and stop
being "yes sir dogs".
I also wish that all film directors grow an extra noodle on
their so busy brains and stop believing that cookie cut
music can bring the same level of excitement to their film
that a custom score writen by a reliable composer can.
I wish software companies start spending more time
developing great orchestral software, that being, stuff
that won't require you to graduate at NASA in order
to use it on your next score. Stuff that actually does
what it claims to do and allows us to concentrate on
our compositions.
I also wish some of the other software companies stop
creating loser software that glues up loops of pre-recorded
music which allows more and more non-musician wanna
be's to clog our path to survive on this business.
In the stuffer you can actually leave me the entire Vienna
Collection, yes, that one that only the rich can buy.
I promise I won't boobytrap my chamine so your fat ass
can have a safe way down.
I will also leave very sour cookies so you get a taste
of what composers of orchestral music went through
this year.
Don't worry, there will be milk too.
Sincerely yours,
Marinho Nobre
