Isn't this a good and bad thing?

As an old studio pro I remember sitting there when the composer/
arranger walked in with the film score and nobody heard it until the
first run though....... usually smiles, sometimes, sharpen those
pencils buckos !

The real skill was in either convincing the producer/director what
they heard really did fit the scene or being super quick and turning
a non happening piece into something usable.

Maybe mock-ups take some of the stress away.. but where is the skill?

However, just like the banks, Sears etc etc... there is no longevity
[ongoing royalties/trust/honour/job etc etc] in the business anymore
and even less once the download world really kicks in........ so is
the real concern, no pride in ownership at any level?

Does any composer need to get $1/2M upfront or are those who do just
more savvy than the rest in knowing they wont get the correct money
down the road.

Look to the next elections to see just how you will be represented
and how what is left of your rights will be maintained......... bear
in mind the boards of US PRO's have dropped YOUR ball for the future
in perpetuity [downloads]...... do you want those folk still in power?
