Hi everyone,
the dv cam solution will work but i think there's a more significant
delay between what you are seeing on your TV monitor and the actual
time code your DAW is at. Because you're going through firewire to DV
Cam's circuitry then to TV monitor etc...So if you're trying to be
tightly in synch with visual, you could be a bit far off working this
way. IMHO (Not scientifically proven but i recall having done some
tests)
I had originally thought of going the DV cam way, but then i thought,
what will happen that time when sonny boy will start walking and my
wife will say: "Honey, where's the DV cam?" Duh, you guys wait for me
while i go back to my Downtown studio and fetch the camera... You get
the picture...
Obviously if you rarely need to score to picture, the cam could be
a fine solution.
For your info Susan i own a Canopus ADVC100 and it works great for
what i need. i.e. Sending QT movies to external monitor.
Best,
Claude
