Thank you for passing all of this along, Les.  It's really interesting!  I'm 
going to be forwarding it to some of the indie label/artist lists as well, 
to see what info others can add.

I know at least one of the independent online retailers (cdbaby.com) report 
album sales to SoundScan here in the U.S., but I have no clue how that would 
apply to UK sales or single charting.  They DO also track downloads if 
you're signed up through them for Digital Distro, so that may have some 
weight as far as how the charting of their sales is working.  I'm not saying 
at all that CD Baby is personally involved in this case, but I know those 
are things that they offer (I'm sure other online retailers probably do too, 
though none probably do it as well).

I will forward this along and send back any feedback I get.
