Since his election to the ASCAP Board 9 years ago as an independent
candidate not selected by the incumbent board at the time, Doug has
endeavored to represent the interests of writers, especially composers, on
the ASCAP Board. He has frequently voiced dissenting opinions to those of
other ASCAP Board Members and makes no secrets about his unhappiness with
more than a few current ASCAP policies, including how instrumental music is
tracked and paid. Throughout his tenure on the ASCAP Board Doug Wood has
walked a tightrope,  trying to vigorously represent the interests of his
constituents - especially composers - all while trying to build bridges and
productive relationships with other ASCAP Board members who may disagree
with him on more than a few issues, but with whom Doug believes he needs to
build a base of concensus with in order to have a shot at changing things
for the better at ASCAP.

This interview gives listeners an insight into Doug's opinions and positions
on a wide variety of issues about ASCAP and its policies, and he answers all
