Not to get into the complexities of various orgs on
different continents, but it is becoming very obvious,
only he with the big stick is going to be paid, forget
accuracy.
I hear from folk who are around the big artists at
BMI, they are tired of not being paid accurately, MN &
I met a guy about 10 years ago.. who had a mediaguide
type company... and MUCH better....... who told us of
ASCAP high rollers who are disgusted at the ASCAP
process.
Now there is a very enterprising chap in the UK who is
able to 'add' HUNDREDS of titles to a performers
catalog without, it would appear, the checks and
balances PPL puts the rest of us through.
Good luck to him and those who benefit.
But what if, as I have found out, the data is
incorrect?
Who pays with their job?
Where are the watchdogs to look out for the little guy
at ASCAP/BMI/PPL etc?
The UK MU, because of its historic stance, simply
stands by and allows corruption and fraud to escalate
in the performers world.
Those in power at PRO orgs are making sure the money
goes the same way it always did... unless one has the
bucks etc to wield the heavyweight legal
muscle........... maybe I need to send my minder in
again ;-) and RMA/Aftra have admitted they can't pay
'everything'.
Along comes the download world wherein salaried folk
have dropped the ball at every level.
Little wonder the DOJ in the USA bailed, little wonder
the OFT in the UK turns a blind eye.
Is it really time for mercenaries, the hang-mans tree
again?
Never has there been a time where technology and
equipment has been available in order to perform
duties accurately.
NEVER has there been a time when staff etc apparently
do all they can in oder not to use that which is
available to them.
If I'm wrong, tell me just how the little guys are
being protected..... tell everyone.
What happened to at least the guise of honesty?
Les
How do you know your product has been downloaded?
How do you know you should be paid?
