[Fmpro] the copyrighting process

Hi all,

I'm wondering what the best approach to copyrighting a score is - if  
one is scoring something to be aired immediately, how does one get it  
both registered with ASCAP and also the copyright office since the  
process of writing for film is dynamic, and what winds up in the film  
or TV show may be an edited version of what was submitted to the  
producer. Do you register the copyright when the whole project is  
completed or do you register every time you hit save in your  
sequencer and ship off a cd to the filmmaker. What if it is an  
ongoing tv series? How do you get things squared away legally when  
they are always changing?
