Hi John,

Pump started repping my stuff a few years ago, and yes, they're definitely
legit & a good group of people.  I came from the biz side of music/tv before
jumping into fulltime composer work and saw from that angle how quickly they made
strides into supplying music for all of the major nets and cable nets, movie
studios, and promo houses.   The deal sounds like it's too good to be true,
but it's definitely the real deal:  non-exclusive repping of your music, and
they only keep 50% of what they place.

They have blanket deals in place with most broadcasters, so whatever the
per-episode fee is that they get, they keep half and the remaining half is divided
up among all of the cues used in that program.  Obviously, if a ton of cues
get used, you don't get too much out of it, but the $$ adds up over time, as
does the PRO money.    So, over the last 2.5 years that they've had my stuff in
their catalog, I've seen a steady income stream and a steady buildup of ASCAP
money as well, largely due to their placements of my music.   Next time you're
watching A&E, DIscovery, History, Travel Channel, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon (and
the list goes on), note the end credits: you'll see Pump Audio listed more
times than not.

My thinking was, I have this massive catalog of stuff I've written that can
just sit on a shelf, OR I can let them sell it and I can make some $$ on it.
It's non-exclusive, they don't take anything away from you, and they only make
$$ if they sell.  It's definitely an artist-friendly business model.    Just
my (happy & content) $.02.   :)
