Good point.... Too bad composers have historically been afraid of speaking
up on these issues (or even writing!). It's a real shame to see an entire
industry full of incredibly talented people roll over as the suits and the
songwriters at the PROs continue the unjustified, unfair, and discriminatory
penalties levied against instrumental music compared to song.
I guess 50 years of being treated as second class writers by the PROs has
indeed taken its toll on the pride and self-esteem of instrumental
composers. In what other industry are those who create CUSTOM product paid
less and treated less favorably than those who create GENERIC product?
