Seems to me that you guys are chewing out the one guy at ASCAP who is in 
the film composers court, even if he isn't perfect, you don't want to 
alienate your only ally. Shouldn't you take personal criticisms of him 
off line, send him personal critical emails, and stick to broader 
criticism of ASCAP's policies? One problem with attempting to effect 
change from within is that you have to build alliances. Forcing him to 
stop being a politician and take hard-line approaches that might 
alienate the very people he needs to build alliances with will limit his 
effectiveness at pursuing the goals he has stated.

I'm not an ASCAP member, by the way - after everything you guys have 
said critical about ASCAP, I was very surprised to hear Mark H. suggest 
that members of our briefly pursued and then dropped Film Composers 
Guild be excluded if they are not ASCAP members. That was the last FCG 
teleconference I attended, I think.

However,

I would still consider being involved in something like the FCG, should 
anyone try to do that again.
