Good point, however tactics like throwing out blanket accusations that this
list publishes "misinformation" and then refusing to provide specific
evidence of this accusation or retract it really undermines my faith in Doug
Wood as someone who wants to help us.
I don't doubt that Doug wants to help, but I do have concerns that he isn't
willing to do what is necessary to achieve real change and reform at ASCAP.
On his watch at ASCAP, things have gotten a lot worse for composers in many
respects - especially concerning the elections and new levels of secrecy and
hiding information from the members. He must take responsibility for this
and take action to remedy it, in my opinion.
He's now unwilling to defend the royalty weighting penalties for
instrumental music, and says they're his primary campaign issue.
But what has he actually done (verifiable) to make some real change here?
This is why all this board secrecy is bad for the members and bad for the
board members like Doug who I believe are trying to instigate change. It
only protects those who are afraid of members knowing what they are truly
doing.
Best,
Mark Northam
