Hi Doug -
I will kindly repeat my request of yesterday for you to provide specific
evidence to back up your claim that this list and those on it publish
"misinformation" or retract your accusation.
Posting accusations without evidence and hoping it will "stick" and create
some sort of "collateral damage" is not going to fly on this list.
It would be as if I went on a list about music libraries you sponsored and
said something like "Omnimusic uses plagiarized music" or "Omnimusic rips
off composers" but never gave any examples. They would be unfounded and
inappropriate charges. And you would have every right to expect me to
retract them unless I provided specific evidence to back them up.
Now I'm asking you to do so regarding the statements you made maligning this
list and those who post on it. Opinions are one thing, but accusations
without evidence or specifics that attack the credibility and integrity of
this list and those who post on it are quite another.
I realize you have a job to do as an ASCAP board member to attempt to
discredit those who publish embarrassing facts about ASCAP's distribution
system - a system whose discriminatory weightings even you now refuse to
defend. And you can call me all the names in the book if you want to - I
fully understand there are people out there who don't agree with me and
that's fine - a lively discourse on the issues is a healthy thing. But
maligning this list and the people who take the time to post, discuss, and
learn from it is quite a different thing.
Best,
Mark Northam
