[Fmpro] 5:1 mix

Hi everybody,

I've been out of this list for some time (was busy
with film). So I'm  maybe again a little bit off
topic, but hope somebody can give a hint.

I made my recordings as separate tracks (4-5 plus
reverb) for previous films (for Dolby) or stereo for
TV. My next film has not so big budget, and producer
asks me if I can make 5:1 music mix myself. I want to
try, but have a lack of information. Can anybody tell
me about some internet resources where I can find
something useful on this topic?

BTW, from my experience, mixing engineers usually made
5:1 music submix of my separate tracks anyway, before
starting final mixdown. Is it common practice?
I mean, I can have more control over my music balance,
if I make it myself, no?
