The ONE cool thing about GVI is that since you already own G3 orch you can
buy GVI for 75 bucks. They did it after so many pissed off people we coming
down on them for the memory limitation problems with the kernel level GS3...

I have a giga 3 orchestra setup. It works but only after 3+ weeks of dealing
with Tascam tech support. Tascam doesn't seem all that interested in taking
care of giga customers, which makes me wonder if it is a doomed setup. That
is the main reason for looking for a soft sampler. I was recently reading up
on Kontakt2. It appears to be able to import a number of other sampler
formats. I will look at GVI VSTi as well.
Thanks.

I have GigaStudio 3 Orchestral, GVI, Kontakt2, EmulatorX, and watered down
version of HaliOn
In my opinion the best you can get is the GVI VSTi Instrument and along with
it grab the GigaPulse VST plugin. They are the best for VST type of
samplers. Kontakt is pretty good also but after spending some time with it,
I think the fundamental sound of Giga is better and crisper for live
sounding sample work (like orchestra sampling)
If you want a stand alone one I would say Giga 3 orchestral but there are a
LOT of bugs that go along with it. And Tascam support is like a chainsaw
enima. If you have the patience to deal with all the problems I think
ultimately it's the most powerful stand alone sampler software still but if
you don't want the headaches I would probably recommend kontakt2

I am looking to buy a software sampler such as Kontakt, EX24, etc. Any
suggestions, likes, or dislikes?
