OK Chris, sorry I misinterpreted your post.

Here's something I just wrote today while this debate
raged on. It's to pitch for the new Fantastic Four
movie trailer/ad...

Although it's a loop-based sound, I played all the
instruments/parts. But, I wouldn't feel the least bit
unethical if I used a drum loop sample or bass riff
loop.

The problem is, to keep it interesting you eventually
want to break out of the loop. If you want the drums
to go BASH! BASH!, and all you have is the loop,
you've painted yourself into a corner.

So, I don't think someone who only uses loops to
create music is going to be able to consistently
create interesting compelling sell-able music.

Plus, I think this loopy sound has been done to death.
It's lost it's novelty factor and is starting to sound
dated. But hey, that's what the asked for. I still had
fun doin it.
