I couldn't agree more. If someone is going to take an active interest
in your career (and what is a career except a lifetime of being paid for
your work?), they should be the experts of PROs and back-end payments,
and I think their paycheck should reflect such expertise for the
lifetime of the back-end payments as well. That would be good
motivation, and I think it would be good insurance for the composers to
have another voice, one more skilled at the meaniness of negotiations,
who isn't from the same squeeky wheel group as the composers are,
banging on the PROs doors to instigate some change and equal respect for
their employers (us).
