Well I don't think we are in dis-agreeance Mark, what I wrote after that
sentence which you quoted is pretty much exactly what you just said. At that
point in my statement I was referring to the dictionary definitions which
state anyone that can notate anything musical of any nature is technically a
composer, but I went on to say a lot more

Respectfully, I have to disagree. Here's how you get your arms around it:
Irving Berlin was a songwriter.
Igor Stravinski was a composer.
George Gershwin and Henry Mancini were both.
Hope this straightens things out.
