[Fmpro] 10% Wholesale (!) Royalty on Compositions on a CD? Ripoff?

My last record contract was 14% of retail and a very decent advance, plus a
publishing advance....this for an unknown band (damn good one, but still,
unknown), and the deal was with a major label. Indies like your friend
should give a whopper of a % since they have neither the major distribution
nor promotion budget, nor money for an advance. Also, from what you say,
you laid out the cash for the recording. Usually the record co does this.
I would say thanks but no thanks if she doesn't up the ante considerably.
