[Fmpro] FMPRO Digest, Vol 25, Issue 22

Gee... I've not been around here for a while and look at you all!
Les, Lynne and all, take a step back. There are assumptions being fought
over here that may not be clear to the novice and some of the statements are
arguing about apples and oranges
NO lawyer can negotiate a movie or TV scoring contract that dictates the
Performing Rights Organization formula for paying royalties.
Performance Royalties are Not Mechanical Royalties.
Scores are not Soundtracks.
And yes, we either have entertainment lawyers or agents who vet our
(typically boilerplate) scoring contracts through entertainment lawyers.
Start over from there, and put down your flame-throwers.

Your not helping me, I have never been in such a brutal conversation like
this after 2 year 24/7 communications within the music/film industry. Your
not helping me, I joined the site to help my clients gain a few dollars to
help fund major projects.

Those we have to deal with only love the power and the $$.

Medicare keeps paying out 'til then.

I'm still kicking ass [somewhere on the planet] everyday ........
even in the flying world.
Pity the US PRO's.. unlike SACEM etc.... never thought to provide
composers with benefits and pensions as they do their staff !

Les,
You stated: "Here's a really good one........ as a studio musician I
worked on hundreds of hits"
These are common words a talent manager hears all the time, as stated
previously, YOU are ONE in millions of talented composers that state these
very same words.
If you want me to represent you, give me written permission as your
representative to ASCAP or BMI who ever you signed with stating that I have
permission to discuss your case.
Call me.
Musically Yours,
Lynne T. Conte/Talent Manager

Where are PRO's mentioned here?
I'm only interested if you can get money via PPL in the UK for US
broadcasts.......... you'd spend a fortune just getting credible
answers.

There are business procedures, especially in this business, I did once get
right to a main source in the film industry and was advised to follow
certain steps. One step at a time.
and Les, the only thing that I have learned from this chat is to ask each
client if they are having problems with their Performing Rights Organization
because if they are, they would need to give written permission as their
representative/manager to discuss their case.
