I think Ricky has made the real point.
I've talked to Shawn over the years and he has been very accommodating
The real problem is.... does one do what is right, or does one keep
the job?
We are faced with organizations around the PRO world where a segment
of the membership, in each PRO, has gouged money for decades and
expects to continue. [see current mess at PRS]
2 short stories;
At an SCL Performing Rights Comm meeting the nephew of a family
member belonging to ';the estates' had said [I paraphrase] 'the
estates recognized rank & file members were unhappy and had decided
to release more money' !!!
During the formation of the AACO David MacMurray played a major part
in aligning the various writer orgs with the AACO.
Amsong folk almost joined, then realized what it all meant, then
allegedly said to DM [I paraphrase] ' nothing changes at ASCAP
unless we say so'.
No one has ever said this isn't so !!
