I was at the SCL meeting where this info came to light by the nephew
of Mary Rogers.
The comment referred to 'unrest among the rank and file' !!!!!!!

Around the time of the AACO when David MacMurray was 'soliciting' for
writer/composer orgs to join a collaborative AACO in an attempt to
educate one and all, AMSONG was one of the orgs.

I am not sure who David was talking to, it was the son of one of the
'estates'. who was gung ho to join up until he realized education was
not a good thing [for them]. Amsong high tailed it for the hills with
the comment 'Changes will be made at ASCAP as and when Amsong want
them' or words to that effect.

No one has ever said this isn't so.

A similar reaction at Harry Fox, the secretary of the then
administrator [Ed Murphy I believe] had expressed great interest in
the first ever multi international PRO event to be sponsored by the
AACO and Mr Murphy had agreed to attend.
When David talked to the sec at Harry Fox about the 'discrepancies
and accounting etc and the fact that 'we' would really like to clear
it up etc she said. referring to the status quo and mess, 'that's the
way we like it'.
It was the CEO of ASCAP who scuppered the multi PRO seminar deal
until Mr Hutchinson of PRS, a gentleman of honor, stood by his word
and attended.

Fortunately there were strong minded PRO's in the EU who did attend
and a great deal of info issued forth.

One must wonder how much further composer would be in knowledge and
perhaps better income if the SCL etc had actually stood by it's
members and encouraged them to attend AACO seminars......... maybe
the leaders of the SCL would have been 10 years in front of the game
instead of lagging behind.

How many on this list fully comprehend hybrid rights and what it
means to them, as composers?

So, Dear List............ why don't any of you know how your checks
are calculated, the credit value' or are you all afraid of
retribution if you post, either way...... what a message to send.
