Well I may be 100% incorrect, but I recall a letter from ASCAP  
pointing out that at this time 'downloads' did not incorporate a  
performing right.

I believe the writers are looking for a better deal re DVD's, but  
also a right to be paid via 'the internet', this I have to presume  
means downloads......
I'd be interested to know if a 'lyric' [a script etc] is considered a  
performing right or if it just has a mechanical right content?

How can a 'writer' be able to negotiate a right from a digital  
process [downloads?] when a composer can't?

I take your point re a 'union' of composers... you say you have  
received many emails, but how many from this list?

I applaud your effort and support it.
