Hate to be the 'told you so guy'................. many years ago a
cable co on the east coast conducted an experiment with Ma Bell.
They transmitted shows but when it came time for the commercial they
sent e.g. Mercedes commercials the those who had high income and Ford
Ads to others...... I asked ASCAP how they planned to pay for two
sets of music in the same time slot.............. still waiting for
the answer ;-)
I also highlighted the 'imbedded' commercial on this list and asked
why we should be paid twice since the music [if there was any in the
scene at that time ] was doing double duty [and how might we be paid
once green screens are being used on a global basis so the Ad can
change country to country etc !!!!.......... I don't think there was
a reply....... and some folks want union/unity?
I believe a stream carries a performing right...... anyone care to
find out how the screen writers will know exactly what/how/where/when
their product is streamed and how they will prove it, and will their
statements have an end column indicating gross amount of sale at
source......... if they have a process maybe we can use at 'our' PRO
[s] & Publishers.
If we do get paid for a stream......... and the stream contains a
mechanical right.... will the Publishers accept a PRO payment as
proof and also pay......... or how about vice versa?
