That's exactly right. It's all a big manipulated money machine for the already rich. 
A private potpan where only the top bracket members are allowed to make the rules. 
I wonder if the ASCAP owners (you know, the two dudes that look like the two critics
 from the Muppet Show...) tried to avoid this to some extent then got gulped in money 
offers or if they were sold out from the very start.  If this wasn't so real and sad, 
I would think it was a comedy feature script...

But you've got to hand it to ASCAP's ruling songwriters -
regarding composers they've brilliantly managed to devalue, 
demoralize, anddivide an entire industry. Now they're steadily 
working to redefine "filmmusic" as song placements. Brilliant.
