They sold their business: their rolodex; their existing penetration into this industry; their past history and reputation and their future earnings; their good will in dealing with broadcaster clients; their fantastic catalog that sounds nothing like your Grandma's music library. I'm guessing that what Getty bought was a fully-established and user-friendly business that has HUGE earnings potential in the future, and Getty wants to exploit that and be able to keep every red cent that they make off of it.

There are good guys CD Baby appears to be one.

However, if PA doesn't own any product, what on earth did they sell?
