Les, you love to be incendiary, punitive, and critical, but rarely have I
seen you offer anything of substance. That really bothers me. You're the
equivalent of a Bill O'Reilly: half of what you say probably isn't even true, but
because you say it loud enough, and aggressively enough, people don't
challenge you.

So today we've tripped over a topic (Pump Audio) that you know nothing about.
You can't offer any facts or information to the conversation, so you offer
bluster and you make grand, sweeping statements that make no sense. I'm
sorry that the facts I've relayed today don't agree with you. Unfortunately,
that's just the way my experience has played out, and it's 100% true even though it
apparently hasn't passed the Les Hurdle truth meter.

To Mark N, I would offer this observation: if the majority of emails from
this forum that are landing in ASCAP's (Shawn LeMone's) mailbox are rants and
incendiary, sweeping comments from Les, is it any wonder that they don't engage
a little more? I'm not a huge fan of ASCAP, but if you step back from this
forum a bit and look at the majority of posts that happen, is it any wonder
that ASCAP isn't listening to the message, when they probably can't stand the
messenger? And if someone chimes in to the list with helpful information,
what they're met with is the nasty jadedness of some guy named Les Hurdle. I
love that the FMPRO list exists, and I love that you guys are championing
these issues on behalf of composers. But someone like Les really degrades the
quality of conversation that's happening, and certainly degrades the quality of
the message being sent. If I were an ASCAP person reading these postings, I
would've tuned out years ago. Pete and Dana and Mark Holden and Mark N have all
offered great information over the last couple years, but that aside, it's
been nothing but crazy Les peppered with a brief spell of Lynn Conte.

And Les, if you really want to know why Getty bought Pump Audio, why don't
you give them a call. Then share with the list what they purchased for 42
million dollars. I get the feeling that even when they tell you the answer, you're
not going to believe it. But I'm dying to know what they say.

Kerry
