Hi Kerry,

I guess I'm really dumb then.

If PA sold 'the composers' [I guess this is what you meant to say] as
'the product' to Getty, then why wouldn't the owner of the product
[the composer] want part of the profit?

My real reason for going round and round on this is the other side of
the business......... which not even you touched today.........

Composer writes music for TV show/Film.. whatever...... [let's
include Library] composer keeps all mechanical rights, this most
assuredly includes sales of 'the product' albeit CD's, DVD's etc.
Why then are composers not paid part of the mechanical sale of 'the
product' when the product is sold in its complete form in the
secondary market e.g. MIDEM or The Santa Monica Film Fest where
product is sold by the pound**........ sales take place, sales are
mechanical, in my book the composer should be entitled to part of the
'sale'.
Include local tv in the USA etc. re sales of Networked product.

My wife worked with one 'entrepreneur' who would sell 'product' by
the pound to the broadcasters in Arabic and 3rd world countries
knowing full well there would never be any reporting.......
