Hey Mark,

Is there any official statement yet from the BMI folks about this?? I'm guessing that a lot of us instrumental composers are officially thinking about switching, if this truly means fairer weighting rules.? Please keep us posted... it sounds too good to be true, but hey -- maybe change is finally coming.

Kerry

Todd Brabec from ASCAP LA issued a letter to members around 2000 that said
exactly this, after we exposed the policy and the questions started to be
asked.

It's a HUGE giveaway to the songwriters, plain and simple. Not a single PRO
board member has ever justified this policy to me, and now that BMI has
ended it, they deserve a lot of credit.

Best,

Mark Northam
