Have to take slight issue here Mark.
1 Doug has told me he rides in the back of the bus/airplane and stays
at cheaper hotels, I believe him since in the past, when he was
speaking to me, I used to pick him up in Santa Monica.... NOT Beverly
Hills.
2 I think we must come to terms with the fact 'our' reps are
underpowered at ASCAP, and allegedly those who should be on our side
seem more inclined to go to the awards parties than actually stand up
for instrumental composers.......... having said that, there is no
reason why our reps can't keep us informed..... they find us quick
enough come election time.
Are they being aggressive.......... how on earth would we know, and
when Doug..... who is the only one brave enough to step up to this
list from time to time and take his licks......... does 'report', it
seldom has any real substance.
WHY?
[Still love ya Dougie ;-)]
3 PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER, it is not in the interest of PRO's like PRS/
GEMA etc not to encourage change in the way ASCAP pays song [YES,
I've BCC'd the PRS Board.. except Guy Fletcher...... with this
email and other EU PRO folk]
As long as PRS etc songwriters are getting 500% more than PRS
instrumental composer members via the USA, why would the board want
any changes?
The fact PRS et al EU instrumental composers do NOTHING about it
indicates how much real information is 'out there'.
I wonder do the EU Library guys have any ideas how much money they
lose to songwriters in the USA.
It is high time for PRO members to take a darn good look at those who
represent them.... globally.
Note....... PRS Publisher members can vote for writer
members.......... what might this tell us about 'the club' !
