Hi Folks,

After almost 20 years I have managed to get a very important piece of
news about PRO's in print in the UK.
However, and please note, not via the PRS who would not inform its
members of their rights.

I quote THE UK MUSICIANS UNION..................

The Advice feature in Summers Musician focused on collecting
societies, and thanks [er hum] to member Les Hurdle for adding to
one particular issue.

'Les' noted that PRS members can assign works to any of three PRO's
in the USA and do NOT have to elect to register with just one.
Writers can assign each individual work with whoever they please,
given that the publisher of the work is also a member of that PRO.
However, PRS comments that it is more practical to develop a
relationship with just one society.

What does the word relationship mean to you?

Me, I see it that with a 'relationship' one can ask favour$$, get
favour$$, it also indicates the accounting is less than accurate or
why would PRS care, they should receive the exact amount no matter
what PRO one belongs to !

The rest of the immediate questions are;
Why did PRS refuse to inform it's members in the M Magazine?
Why can't US composer citizens have the same freedom as overseas
composers......... actually I think US folk will find they can join
all 3 PRO's in the USA... where does it say they can't?
