Actually they are.
When one writes music one is solely responsible for the outcome of
the composition.
When one is the pilot of an aircraft the same responsibility applies.
[ In many instances it is a much easier job]
However, in my experience there is a great difference in the attitude
of the support staff in the two industries.
In the flying world the controllers etc. have no wish to see anything
but a successful end to a flight and will do all in their power to
insure such, for ALL.
They don't want the paperwork etc. involved via error.
BUT, at the back of every pilots mind is the right to QUESTION those
who provide instruction and advice, and obtain answers, there and
then....... why, after the crash, the staff member gets to go home no
matter if it is their fault.
Sometimes the people in the aircraft don't go home because of a staff
members error.
However, the exact same support is available whether one is flying a
Cessna 172 or a Boeing 767.
In the music world, albeit PRO's or Publishers etc., it would appear
the effort of staff is to insure 'the big iron' gets ALL the support
[$$] while the little iron is left out in the cold, so to speak.
But does the composer have the 'right' to question every move by a
staffer and obtain an answer? It would appear not so. Why is that?
Those on staff... who don't have what it takes to stand on their own
two feet...... make sure the '767' [the hyped big iron, the hit]
finds a safe landing place and reaps the reward while many of the
Cessna's [CPA etc] run out of gas [$$] crash and burn.
The exact same support is not available to all 'composers' and the
very music which assists in generating all of the money not only for
the PRO's/Publishers as agents, but also the staff... CPA music... is
the music, the Cessna's, they denigrate the most.
Yet the staff go home secure and with a pay packet no matter who they
'killed'.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but allegedly, Mr Hammerstien
claimed 'some copyrights are more equal than others' !
Such seems to be the thought process of those who should be
supporting 'you'.
