     *Streaming media* refers to a method of delivery that plays the  
media while it is being sent, rather than from a completed download.

     The concept of streaming has been around since the seventies,  
but it didn't really catch on until the advent of greater bandwidth,  
and improved codecs.   Now streaming just makes it easier for  
broadcasters to screw the little guy out of his money, and thousands  
of times faster!

     Wasn't that long ago when one would spend hours  downloading a  
three minute audio clip.  ... which would be 8 bit mono, at 11k  
sample rate!  Remember the "good ol' days"?  I do. ;-)
