[Fmpro] Ad music

This talk of ad music is coincidental, as I just received 3000 euros for
my half of the royalties for a pretty big TV ad. Cool, sir. However, a
few things worth mentioning. This was for an ad broadcast in 2005. Plus
we have only received money from Germany. So it took three years for the
money to travel 200 kms (I'm writing from Belgium). Also, we have been
unable to track the money for the UK and Ireland, which should be the
same again, IMHO. Our PRO is not being particularly helpful on this one,
and as usual it's hard to say what is happening. As my writing partner
on this has an ongoing problem with the royalties for a DVD that sold
300,000 copies and for which he has received only pocket money, he is
talking about sending in a lawyer. There is a standard rate for
mechanicals in Europe. So we can calculate exactly how much is owed on
300,000.

And to think this is the digital age. And to think that we are members
of this society.

Anyway, the point is: yes, money - and sometimes big money - can be made
from the royalties on advertising; but you won't get anything without a
lot of foot-stamping and paperwork.
