[Fmpro] Link, another try

Curiously, I just got a MacMall email, and right clicked to obtain the
embedded link. It's huge! Check it out:
http://www.macmall.com/redirect.asp?mwb=MWB12462&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.macmall.com%2fmacmall%2fpromotions%2fcustom5.asp%3fp%3dLaCieHardDriveBlowout%26wt.mc_id=MWB12462
Perhaps it's what you said about detecting a text only email client or
server and having two versions, carefully created with carriage
returns only in the right places and no spaces that keeps it
functional. I just downloaded the same email on my Palm Treo. The
pictures were gone, but the text with the above embedded huge link was
there and took me right to their website.
We don't have to beat this to death. I was curious as broken links
are always a problem on forums. Since it does appear to be hit or miss
on our (or at least my) side of the html programming fence, then
people may just have to paste the link together when they receive it
to restore it's functionality, and as far as embedding links into
phrases in emails, I guess it's trial and error as to when it will
work or not.
In any case, thanks again for the detailed explanation.
Best,
James
