Robert,
You are already the publisher...but I believe you can reserve¹
A name with ASCAP. I would actually place a call and check
to see if the name you are looking to use is already taken.
And weather or not you are expected to foot the bill for 1500 CDs
has nothing to do with being a publisher...it¹s what¹s in you record
Contract that matters on that front.
