Actually, I primarily use Logic and DP on a Mac, so I can't really speak to
relative merits of Sonar vs. Cubase.  All the PC users composers I know use
Cubase, but that doesn't mean Sonar isn't just as good.  I just don't know
anything about it.

As a few others mentioned, if you got an MBox, you could use Sonar and
Cubase with it, so no need to get an additional sound card in that case.
